Ancient wisdom brought into the digital age!
I liked the way that slogan came out; so I’ll use it!
Another way of looking at salience alignment is that of focus management. I got that term from Robin Sherma’s 5AM club – he was talking about things not being about time management, but rather focus management. He didn’t elaborate too much, but it got me thinking about where my focus was, and whether I was managing it properly.
The terms might be novel, but the basic principles are not. They have gone under various names like: concentration, contemplation, meditation, and so on throughout history. Being a computer programmer, I am familiar with software development methodologies which are essentially project, time and task management. These things are great if what you are doing is super-valuable. Sometimes it only appears to be of value and so all cleaver time management in the world will simply result in a well managed waste of everybody’s time.
